Topic: Attention Deficit Disorder
Attention
Deficit Disorder (ADD) affects an
estimated 6% - 8% of the general population,
according to the National Attention
Deficit Disorder Association. As many as
half of those affected are never
diagnosed.
Many adults must learn to cope with its
distractions without realizing that they
have ADD.
In this show we'll discuss what ADD is,
how it's diagnosed, the difference
between ADD and ADHD, what
treatments are available, and what
benefits come with a diagnosis. We'll also
address as some of the
hysteria in the media surrounding
ADD, e.g. how it is over diagnosed in children
and under diagnosed in adults. I also will
relate some of my own personal experiences, having
been diagnosed with ADD sixteen years
ago. Guest:
