Tom
Simplot, Phoenix City Council District 4, is a
public voice that is the advocate, in local Phoenix
government, to spearhead the creation of a new community
center for the GLBT community. Jon Quinn and Rocco
Menaguale are local Phoenix businessmen and heads of the
organizing committee for One Voice GLBT Community Center
of Phoenix.
Simplot is an attorney and licensed
realtor. He has worked in public service
at the state and county levels as a senior
advisor to Governor Fife Symington and a
former advisor to Maricopa County
Supervisor Betsey Bayless.
Tom Simplot was elected to the Phoenix
City Council in September, 2003 during an
exciting special election for District 4.
His win elected him to represent a widely
diverse district in the heart of central
Phoenix that boasts landmarks such as the
St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Phoenix
Children’s Hospital, Phoenix College and
Steele Indian School Park.
Simplot’s primary goals for representing
District 4 are fighting crime, protecting
small businesses and preserving the
character of neighborhoods. He believes
that residents must reclaim their
neighborhoods with the help of city
services and encourages the development of
the arts and culture within the city’s
central core signaling a vibrant downtown.
